Description

  • Must be proficient in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) operation for pilot bore, reaming and product pullback. Properly operate rod loader systems and pump levels. Ditch Witch and Vermeer experience preferred.
  • Must be proficient with HDD mud mixing equipment and have a working knowledge of mud mixing materials and quantities.
  • Working knowledge of HDD Locate Equipment.
  • Perform general site preparation, restoration and right of way maintenance duties.
  • Develop proficiency in safe operation of HDD and other equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment.
  • Run power tools.
  • Perform hand digging.
  • Transport equipment to and from jobsites.
  • Load and unload equipment.
  • Maintain material inventory on truck.
  • Active leadership skills as lead position while crew foreman is offsite.
  • Working knowledge of underground utilities.
  • Working knowledge of 811 requirements and procedures.
  • Operate controls to stabilize machines and to position and align drills.
  • Operate backhoes, excavators, pot holing machines.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upgrade work on machines and equipment, such as replacing parts, building up and rebuilding drill heads when needed, and lubricating machinery.

Job Requirements

  • At least three years’ experience with directional drill rigs with additional experience operating other types of heavy equipment.
  • At least one year’s experience with construction directional drilling.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a Class A CDL with tanker.
  • Knowledge of horizontal drilling techniques and standards.
  • Digitrak and Subsite experience.
  • Have valid Class A CDL with Tanker.
  • Advanced skill in construction directional drill operations and routine maintenance.
  • Ability to operate other types of heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of construction practices and use of tools and equipment in construction.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to complete work accurately, timely, and safely under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours, to include evenings, weekends, and / or holidays.
  • Ability to drive motor vehicles and mobile equipment to and on job sites throughout Texas.
  • Ability to work outside of primary residence area throughout Texas for extended periods of time. (Hotel and per diem provided.)
