Description

  • Proficiency in use of all types of hand and power tools and machines
  • Install insulation in ceilings, walls and other compartments
  • Insulate a variety of insulation materials on hulls, steam turbines, ventilation ducts, valves, boilers, piping systems, etc� to prevent loss of heat or cold and condensation
  • Responsible for the installation and/or removal if insulation of any component on board ship
  • Use kaylo, insulating cement, fiberglass pipe covering, polyimide, elastomeric foam, and other insulating materials
  • Cut an install kaylo
  • Cut mitres for kaylo
  • Load and unload materials in bulk
  • Fabricate machinery pads
  • Fabricate and install rubber pipe covering
  • Lay out BLHD and OVHD for insulation pins
  • Measure and cut insulation
  • Board ships via stairs, ladders, and gangways with tool bags and needed equipment
  • Control cost in assigned area of responsibility
  • Other duties may be assigned as workload dictates
  • Must have regular and reliable attendance
