About the role

Barr is seeking an electrical engineer to join our wind and solar collection team. In this hybrid role, you will support the power delivery team, working with multidisciplinary project teams providing electrical engineering and related technical expertise. The person in this position will also be responsible for managing projects, coaching and mentoring less-experienced staff, providing technical leadership, and managing teams to meet clients' needs. A successful person in this role will have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. The ideal candidate for this position is intrinsically motivated and emphasizes client service. They enjoy working independently and as part of a team, using their technical ability and project management expertise for a variety of projects. They are flexible in working with their project teams and are willing to occasionally modify schedules to meet project deadlines and/or client needs. This person is also relationship-focused, as the role involves serving both internal and external clients. a hybrid or remote work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office; a remote arrangement refers to working primarily from a home office . This position can be based out of any of Barr's offices. Remote arrangements will be considered based on candidate qualifications, local regulations, and Barr’s needs. up to 10–15 percent domestic fieldwork.

What you'll bring

  • bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • At least 5 years of related experience working in a design capacity on projects directly related to job responsibilities described above.
  • Knowledge and experience with solar DC and AC solar collection system design.
  • Experience with power plant controllers.
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Microsoft Office.
  • Possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • 10+ years of related experience.
  • Experience with collection system studies, including ampacity, short circuit, reactive power, grounding, insulation coordination, harmonic, and transient overvoltage.
  • Experience with energy storage facilities.
  • Authoritative capabilities and experience applying industry-standard resource modeling and assessment techniques (PVsyst, Windographer, etc.).
