About the role
We are seeking a Senior Lands & Right of Way (ROW) Advisor to join our team in Gastonia, North Carolina. In this role, you will have highly complex technical work related to negotiating the acquisition of a variety of property interests and the disposal and management of surplus lands, negotiating damage claims, and/or facilitating crossing agreements. What you'll bring
- 6+ years of related right-of-way experience in progressive roles along with a Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma and/or equivalent years of post-secondary education and directly related industry experience may be considered.
- For candidates who do not possess a university degree, an additional 3-years of related experience is required.
- For candidates who do not possess a technical diploma, an additional 2-years of related experience is required.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and Indigenous/Sovereign Nation regulations related to ROW activities and landowner responsibilities.
- Demonstrated experience managing ROW for Core Projects and Programs, with solid knowledge of pipeline systems, facility interactions, and land acquisition/easement requirements.
- Ability to interpret legal plans, titles, deeds, engineering drawings, and land documentation, while effectively collaborating with diverse groups.
- Proven ability to interpret legislation and apply sound judgment, with strong decision-making skills in complex situations.
- Must be licensed as a North Carolina real estate agent or able to obtain it within 18 months of the hire date.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, GIS, and land systems, with excellent communication skills
- Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
