About the role

The Nursing Assistant II assists in providing direct patient care throughout nursing areas, and is responsible for the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, and other devices. The NA II performs basic care tasks as delegated by the RN, and is responsible for appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of a Patient Observer (Sitter) for any patient on a patient care until who has been assessed to require constant observation in order to maximize his/her safety. The NA II needs to understand the patient’s condition to ensure their care and safety. In addition to other tasks, the NA II performs phlebotomy (venipuncture, finger stick and heel stick) according to established procedure of South Shore Hospital.

What you'll bring

• Must successfully perform 50-100 draws to be deemed competent by a designated phlebotomist trainer.
• BLS - Basic Life Support
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
• Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
• 2, 12hour, night shifts, 7pm to 730am, per week
• every third weekend, rotating holidays
• ACLS (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH), Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH), INSTRUCTOR- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH), INSTRUCTOR- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Minimum Work Experience
• Previous Nursing Assistant or equivalent experience preferred.
