About the role
QuEra is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with expertise and experience in manufacturing to join our growing team building next-generation neutral atom quantum computers. This individual will work collaboratively with other engineers and the supply chain team to facilitate smooth new product introductions (NPIs) by ensuring documentation packages are accurate, complete and ready to transfer to suppliers and contract manufacturing partners. You will bridge the gap between design engineering and fabrication, ensuring that technical specifications and production requirements are properly communicated to vendors. What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in mechanical design and creating manufacturing documentation packages in support of outsourcing production
- Thorough understanding of fabrication, machining, sheet metal, and electromechanical and/or optomechanical assembly techniques
- Proficiency with product lifecycle management (PLM) and configuration management processes (ECO/ECR/MCO)
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software and experience using PDM software
- The ideal candidate will have a foundation in mechanical design principles, proficiency with 3D modeling tools, strong experience in design for manufacturing and assembly (DfM/DfA), knowledge of GD&T, and experience working with machine shops and contract manufacturers.
- Experience in optical systems and/or electronic systems manufacturing environments
- Experience with prototype fabrication and testing
- Familiarity with digital thread and model-based definition (MBD) environments
- Previous experience working in a startup environment
