About the role

The School of International Letters and Cultures (SILC) at the Tempe campus seeks a highly detail-oriented Department Human Resources Specialist Senior to manage human resources functions for the unit. These functions include but are not limited to hiring, job changes, academic personnel process support, payroll reconciliation, and academic appointments. The successful candidate will be a reliable self-starter who is able to prioritize and independently manage their workload to meet deadlines. This position requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and flexibility. This position is considered safety/security sensitive and will include a fingerprint check. Employment is contingent upon successful passing of the fingerprint check.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field
  • OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of human resources management.
  • Experience processing payroll and completing payroll reconciliation.
  • Experience working in higher education or academic unit.
  • Experience processing a high volume of HR and payroll transactions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FLSA, FMLA, ACA and University policies and procedures
  • Experience with ASU systems such as Workday, Interfolio, Peoplesoft, Analytics, Microsoft Office, DropBox, and Google Drive.
  • Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively and adapt in an environment subject to quickly changing priorities and short deadlines.
  • Experience in working effectively and collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
