Food Safety HACCP Technician Starting Pay Rate $22.42/hr Raises each 6 months to $25.63/hr in 24 months Work schedule is night shift - 6pm-6:15am 7 days on/7 days off, must work alternating weekends 200% match on 1st 3% of 401k BCBS of AL benefits package eligible on day one The HACCP Laboratory Technician is responsible for the following: • Perform all HACCP program related tasks. These include but are not limited to the following: (1) Critical Control Point auditing, monitoring, verifying, and documentation. (2) Completing, reviewing, and filing of all associated documentation. (3) Conducting HACCP related system and equipment calibrations/verifications. (4) Maintain an acceptable knowledge level of the FITCO HACCP plans and all supporting programs. • Demonstrate the ability to work and communicate effectively across departmental lines including working with USDA personnel. • Have and maintain the ability to work in extreme temperatures hot and cold conditions and in high or confined areas for extended periods of time. • Offer assistance to Chemistry Lab and Micro Lab as needed. • Enter data accurately and timely on all documentation and systems. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Candidates with the following education and/or experience will be considered in the following descending order: • BS degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or Food Science/Technology preferred • Candidates currently enrolled in college and working towards a BS degree in the fields above with hours exceeding an Associate Degree. • Associate Degree in Chemistry, Food Science/Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT ASCP certification required). • At least 4 college verifiable level courses (C average or better) in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or Food Science/Technology. • Experience in a food industry laboratory or medical laboratory (not class work related). Job Experience/Technical Expertise: • LIMS system experience a plus. • Understand and perform HACCP data, chemistry and microbiology analysis. • Mathematical skills: basic, algebraic, and formulas.
