About the role
The Branch Youth Services Librarian: Children is responsible for developing, planning, and implementing special and recurring children’s programs, outreach, assisting patrons, providing reader’s advisory, and collection development. In addition, assisting in circulation, materials shelving, and resolving patron issues as well as opening and closing procedures.
What you'll bring
- Master’s in Library Science from an ALA-accredited university is required.
- Arkansas Driver’s license required.
- This position requires you to be outgoing, energetic, creative, self-motivated, and committed to providing quality children’s programming in a public library setting.
- Candidate should be computer literate and willing to learn new technologies
- General knowledge of popular reading materials, movies, and music
- expert-level knowledge in children’s materials
- Knowledge of professional library principles, practices, and trends
- Expertise in the library’s resources, services, classification system, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of developmental, recreational, and educational needs of children in the community.
- Strong organizational skills, decision-making skills, and initiative.
- Ability to think creatively in the development of children’s programming.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and Saturdays.
