About the role
We are hiring team members now to help build the future of outpatient care from the ground up in one of Virginia’s fastest-growing communities. The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) supports surgical procedures recognized by the attending surgeon as appropriate for the RNFA to participate in by demonstrating competence through knowledge, experience, and skills. The RN practices in the role of the first assistant when a physician (attending or resident) is unable to assist the attending surgeon in a particular procedure due to availability or location. The Registered Nurse First Assist: Facilitates and or participates on special projects to support the mission of VCUHS and department. Develops an organizational culture that fosters teamwork. Appoints people with complimentary skills for maximum team effort. Effectively handles multiple demands from superiors and subordinates.
What you'll bring
- Required Education: Minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program (unless grandfathered under previous requirements)
- Certification in specialty area
- Licensure/Certification Required: Current RN licensure in Virginia, AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
- Years and Type of Required Experience: 5 years of clinical experience to include 2 Years RNFA
- Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Successful completion of additional educational preparation specific to the role of RNFA including a supervised clinical component
- Cultural Responsiveness: N/A
- Preferred Education: Completion of a master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program
- Licensure/Certification Preferred: Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA)
