About the role
Re:Build Manufacturing is seeking a highly skilled R&D Composites Molding Engineer to lead research and development of advanced thermoplastic molding processes, tooling technologies, and prototype equipment for our manufacturing operations. This hands-on role emphasizes developing new molding processes, designing prototype tooling, and testing emerging technologies while working directly with molds, molding equipment, and R&D teams. You will independently manage multiple R&D projects from concept through prototype validation, supporting Re:Build's diverse manufacturing capabilities across multiple sites. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer who combines strong technical knowledge with a hands-on approach to solving complex R&D challenges and advancing manufacturing capabilities. This range represents the Company’s good faith estimate of the base compensation for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for annual incentive compensation and/or long-term incentives, subject to Company plans. What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of thermoplastic processing experience (thermoforming, injection molding, compression molding, or thermoplastic composites)
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and tooling design
- Strong understanding of thermoplastic materials and processing parameters
- Process development and prototyping experience
- Tooling design and modification experience
- Ability to troubleshoot complex process and equipment issues
- Experience managing multiple projects independently
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- 10+ years of thermoplastic processing experience
- Experience with multiple thermoplastic processes (thermoforming, injection molding, compression molding, thermoplastic composites)
- Prototype mold design experience
