About the role
Operator 1 is an entry-level position responsible for supporting the operation of dredging and related equipment under close supervision. This role is designed for individuals beginning a career in heavy equipment operations who are eager to learn, develop technical skills, and advance within the company. While prior equipment experience is valued, dredging is a highly specialized industry with unique systems and processes. Success in this role requires a strong willingness to learn, absorb knowledge, and continuously grow. Operator 1 is intended as a developmental position, with the expectation that employees will progress through demonstrated initiative, skill development, and increased responsibility.
What you'll bring
- Must be at least 18 years old by date of hire
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0–1 year of experience in equipment operation or mechanical work.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel extensively and work rotational schedules, including extended shifts and overnight assignments.
- Current MSHA Part 46 or Part 48 training
- must be able to successfully complete and maintain all required MSHA training and site-specific safety training upon hire.
