About the role
This is an opportunity for a motivated lawyer to provide legal support to HCSC’s legal team and other internal business partners supporting HCSC Medicaid managed care/CHIP programs. HCSC is the largest customer-owned health insurer in the United States, operating through its Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. In addition to its offerings in these core states, HCSC is proud to serve millions of people across the nation through a diverse portfolio of products. The position can be based in Richardson, Texas, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Chicago Illinois; Tulsa, Oklahoma or Helena, Montana. Please note this role is a hybrid role. This requires in-office hours 3 days a week at the respective office location. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
What you'll bring
- Juris Doctor Degree and a license to practice law in the state where the position is located.
- 8 years’ experience as an attorney with demonstrated understanding/experience of the health care or insurance field.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Negotiation and diplomacy skills.
- 5+ years’ experience with state Medicaid/CHIP program issues, such as policies, regulations, and guidance issued by state Medicaid agencies and/or CMS, state and federal legislative and regulatory activity related to Medicaid/CHIP, Medicaid/CHIP managed care delivery systems, contracting, payment integrity, coverage issues, member grievances, reimbursement, or models/demonstration projects under section 1115 of the Social Security Act.
- Strong business collaboration and writing skills, including the ability to clearly provide legal counsel and solutions to complex issues.
