Job Description • Performs sample preparation activities including DNA extraction, data entry, and analysis. • Primarily responsible for IN/DEL-based and/or SNP-based genetic testing, including: sample preparation, processing, generation of results, and data calling. • Completes training on platforms as needed & conducts SSR/SNP testing & analysis other platforms as needed. • Flexibility to function in several lab functional areas such as Sample Archiving, Pre-Amplification (DNA extraction and sample prep) and Post-Amplification (Sample processing and detection). Able to recognize lab work flow issues and adapt processes and procedures to ensure rapid turnaround of sample extractions and analysis. • With QA guidance, independently troubleshoots anomolous scientific results. Assist with investigations into questionable or out-of-specification laboratory data. • Authors and revises SOPs as needed. • Conducts process investigations and troubleshooting as assigned. • Maintains laboratory inventories as needed. • Participates in and/or leads area quality and cost improvement programs as needed. • Coaches or trains less skilled or new laboratory personnel as needed. • Contributes ideas that will lead to continuous improvement of laboratory testing procedures (efficiency and/or quality). • Assists with laboratory job scheduling. • Able to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. • Maintaining clean shared work space Qualifications: • MINIMUM SKILLS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, ATTRIBUTES: • B.S. Degree in Molecular Genetics or science-related field with at least 1 year of laboratory experience (genetics preferred) for external candidates. • Proficient in pipette usage. • Ability to read, understand, and follow SOPs. Familiarity with safety and operational procedures. • Strong excellent oral and written communication skills. • Excellent time management skills. • Strong team orientation and work ethic. • Must be detail oriented and accurate. • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and LIMS applications Qualifications Additional Information All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
