About the role
This person will perform skilled and semi-skilled grounds maintenance related to Facilities Management operations and County support services including high visibility landscaping, memorial tree and nursery maintenance, and project construction on County-owned and leased facilities. This person is responsible to provide a clean and safe environment for visitors, tenants and employees while being a crew leader and working independently with minimal supervision. The employee in this position is classified as an essential employee and will be required to work when the County offices are officially closed due to inclement weather, natural disaster, other emergency situations, etc. Weekend/Holiday work as required
What you'll bring
- Minimum one year experience in commercial lawn care, landscaping or related position or equivalent training in vocational or trade school
- High school diploma or GED required
- Applicant must have basic computer skills that include using email, navigating the internet, creating spreadsheets and documents
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
- Ability to work well with minimum supervision, self-motivated.
- Ability to work well alone and with others
- Ability to assist supervisor in his/her absence
- Continued employment is contingent upon meeting this requirement.
- Must pass a pre-employment ChildLine Safety Check
- Athletic field maintenance a plus, (i.e. baseball infield grooming, turf grass management, basketball and tennis court maintenance, etc.
- PA Dept of Agriculture Core Applicator Certification and PA Dept of Ag Category 23 Applicator Certification is preferred or ability to achieve both within six months of employment.
