About the role

The Campus Safety Officer is an unarmed, customer service-focused member of the Department of Public Safety responsible for helping maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This cost-shared position supports both Marion Technical College and The Ohio State University at Marion. Working under the direct supervision of the Public Safety Supervisor (Sergeant, Ohio State University Police Division), the Campus Safety Officer supports campus safety operations through patrol, building security, customer service, emergency response, and enforcement of institutional policies. The position operates within established departmental policies and the chain of command. This position is classified as Staff - Management, Professional, Administrative, and Support and will perform a wide range of professional and administrative support functions for the college, primarily in an office setting. What you'll bring

• Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, being at least 18 years of age, and holding a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Additionally, applicants must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, basic computer proficiency, and the ability to exercise sound judgment, remain calm during emergencies, work independently while following established procedures, follow written and verbal instructions, and maintain confidentiality.
• Required availability includes working mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and during emergency situations as assigned.
• Furthermore, candidates must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and the ability to accept instruction, training, and constructive feedback, and are required to have a smartphone to allow access to email and college networks using multi-factor authentication (MFA) for additional password and identity security.
• Preferred qualifications include holding an associate degree or higher, as well as possessing current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
• Candidates should also have experience preparing written reports and working with a wide range of populations.
