About the role
This is a "0-to-1" opportunity characterized by high ambiguity and heavy stakeholder management. You will act as the strategic bridge between Legal, Risk, and Engineering, taking complex regulatory advice and translating it into a technical roadmap. Because tax impacts nearly every corner of our tech stack, you will navigate diverse touchpoints across the organization to ensure our back-end systems handle tax logic with precision. In this role, you’ll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in five key areas which we consider to be the foundation for successful Product Management:
What you'll bring
- You are detail-oriented and enjoy parsing legal requirements to turn them into clear, actionable engineering tasks.
- You are comfortable working deep in the tech stack.
- It requires a strong grasp of system architecture and logic.
- You thrive in undefined spaces.
- You can look at the "big picture," identify gaps in how we currently operate, and build the "proper" way to do things from scratch.
- You are an expert at managing high-stakes partnerships with Legal and Risk while maintaining a strong, focused culture within your engineering squad.
- Product Management at Capital One is a booming, vibrant craft that requires reimagining the status quo, finding value creation opportunities, and driving innovative and sustainable customer experiences through technology.
- We believe our portfolio of businesses and investments in growth and transformation will result in a company with the scale, brand, capabilities, talent, and values to succeed as the digital revolution transforms our society and our industry.
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:
- A Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field), Business or Marketing
- Bachelor's degree in any field and at least 3 years of Product Management experience
- Experience translating business strategy and analysis into consumer facing digital products
