About the role

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assists in preparation of clinic area/exam rooms. • Assists with patient intake and discharge. • Measures vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight. • Assists in transporting/directing patients to clinic areas. • Assists providers and other staff members with patient care procedures. • Collects specimens as directed. • Documents in the medical record as required. • Assists in ordering and maintaining supplies. • Participates/attends educational programs. • Assists with maintaining patient records. • Contacts patients/families as directed by providers or licensed nurses. • Maintains a clean work environment. • Assists with referral tracking. • Assists with ICD-10 and CPT coding. • Adheres to the terms and conditions set forth in BSHC’s corporate compliance program. • Ensures confidential information in accordance with BSHC’s policy and current HIPAA regulations. • Performs other duties as assigned.   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS: • Current training completion certificate as a Medical Assistant required. • Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred. • Ability to administer injections • Excellent customer service skills both in-person and on the telephone. • Priority setting skills.   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT: • Requires moderate to high amount of working, standing, lifting and repetitive tasks. • Potential exists for exposure to hazardous risks including infectious diseases, hazardous substances and musculoskeletal injuries. • Work is performed in an interior, medical office setting. • Nursing units are well-lit, ventilated and meet safety standards.
