About the role
We’re growing our Property Maintenance team and have a new opportunity for a qualified Electrician to work across the City of Sunderland, delivering a high‑quality service to our customers. You’ll join our Empty Homes Team , carrying out EICR testing and repairs in vacant properties, with opportunities to complete full rewires and occasional call‑back repairs in occupied homes. This role is ideal for an experienced Electrician with strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations , Codes of Practice, and electrical work in both domestic and commercial settings. We are looking for an experienced Electrician who has developed strong communication skills with customers, colleagues and wider teams, ensuring that Gentoo delivers exceptional service to every customer. We support a great work-life balance, you will work a standard 36-hour working week, Mon – Fri, with an early finish on Fridays. What you'll bring
- Complete all necessary electronic certification as required by the Group in line with relevant British Standards and Regulatory bodies applicable to the work carried out.
- Demonstrable ability to carry out electrical installations, repairs, maintenance and testing as required by the Group and in accordance with relevant specifications, standards and Regulatory bodies.
- Served a recognised (Indentured) Electrical apprenticeship with City & Guilds 2361 part 1 & 2 or equivalent or NVQ Level 3.
- Be fully conversant and competent to carry out works in accordance with the current Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations/BS7671 plus all ongoing revisions.
- City and Guilds 2391-52 or equivalent - Initial and Periodic Inspection and
- testing, and e vidence of a minimum of 2 years’ experience in periodic inspection and testing as per NICEIC requirements.
- Proven ability to carry out inspection, testing and certification to current BS 7671:2018 Regulations as amended.
- Completed an AM2 Practical trade test qualification.
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of relevant Health & Safety Regulations.
- Ability to carry out minor building and plumbing works associated with electrical works, for example, minor plaster patching/making good and connecting water supplies to showers.
