About the role
Mustang Cat is seeking an experienced Lead Dyno Technician to oversee engine testing operations at our Tomball Power Systems facility. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for directing daily test cell activities, supporting fellow technicians, and ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient testing of industrial natural gas and diesel engines. As the technical lead within the dyno operation, you'll play a critical role in delivering quality engine performance, mentoring technicians, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving continuous improvement throughout the testing process. As the Lead Dyno Technician, you'll provide technical leadership while remaining actively involved in testing, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and quality assurance of industrial engines.
What you'll bring
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience working with industrial natural gas or diesel engines
- Proven experience troubleshooting complex engine and electrical systems
- Strong understanding of engine controls, fuel systems, cooling systems, and electronic diagnostics
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and service literature
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced production environment
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement
- Technical degree or formal training in Diesel Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Power Generation, or related field preferred
- Previous experience serving as a Lead Technician, Shop Lead, Crew Lead, or Technical Mentor
- Experience with Caterpillar Large Bore engines
- Familiarity with Cat Electronic Technician (Cat ET) and Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS)
