About the role
Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Security Service Technician with programming, troubleshooting, and repair capabilities and experience. This position will work closely with our service team and clients to ensure our critical life safety systems are repaired in an efficient manner to maintain their overall performance. This is a key po sition for our growing team and requires attention to detail in all aspects of system troubleshooting and repair. Customer and employee interface requires a high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both written and verbal, are important elements of the position.
What you'll bring
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two to five (2-5) years of experience in a technician role within the b uilding s ecurity s ystems i ndustry.
- Knowledge of current security systems including access control, IP video, and voice and data systems.
- Intermediate understanding of s ecurity s ystem integrity and how to troubleshoot for circuit opens, shorts, or ground conditions.
- Independent ability to program multiple manufacturer's advanced system product platform(s)/graphical systems.
- Ability to program and troubleshoot mid-range to complex security systems.
- Ability to demonstrate proper operation of equipment and control units to customers and explain how it is to be used, and how to respond to any system signals.
- Intermediate knowledge of NPFA 70 and 731 for testing and maintenance of security systems.
- State, local, contract, and/or product specific certifications determined by the business.
- Knowledge of state fire procedures, filing, and requirements.
- Ability to read fire and security system design drawings.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency.
