About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Aquatic Scientist to join Trinity Consultants Canada Water & Ecology. This is a hybrid role based out of our Whitehorse office.

What you'll bring

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • P.Bio. (or equivalent professional designation), or eligibility for registration
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, including fish collection using various methods, fish community characterization, and assessment of fish population and health data.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis
  • Experience in habitat characterization for Fisheries Act Authorizations and specialist-level knowledge of habitat requirements for Canadian freshwater fish species.
  • Experience designing and implementing baseline assessment programs, including the selection, establishment, and monitoring of water, sediment, fish, fish habitat, and benthic invertebrate community sampling stations.
  • Effective analytical and technical editing and review skills, and ability to ensure the delivery of high-quality reports and proposals.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences including team members, clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, excellence, and ethics.
  • Hands-on expertise in planning and conducting aquatic field programs using a variety of sampling techniques for water, sediment, benthic invertebrates, fish, and fish habitat, including the design, establishment, and sampling of benthic invertebrate community monitoring stations
  • familiarity with QA/QC protocols and data integrity standards.
