The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) is responsible for monitoring and documenting clients' physical and mental health status, administering and documenting medications as prescribed, and communicating any concerns to the Registered Nurse and attending physician. This role participates in treatment team meetings, shift exchanges, and daily rounds while helping coordinate and oversee nursing activities to ensure quality client care. Additional responsibilities include providing nursing interventions within the scope of licensure, supporting the admission process by reviewing admission documentation, coordinating admissions, completing required verifications and forms, and helping maintain full utilization of program beds. Population Served: Serving youth, ages 12-17, dealing with acute psychiatric symptoms Facility & Setting: 24/7 inpatient Involuntary program, 16-bed facility Clinical Services: Admission; engagement; learning; stabilization and linkage to resources and aftercare
What you'll bring
- A valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) license is required.
- High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) is required.
- One (1) year of nursing experience is required
- Must obtain valid CPR and Pro-ACT certifications within 30 days of employment.
- Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing, psychiatric technology, or an associate’s degree in nursing or social sciences is preferred.
- One (1) year of medication administration experience is preferred.
- preferably treating individuals with mental illness in an inpatient setting. (Clinical nursing school rotations may be substituted for work experience).
