About the role
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will design and develop mechanisms and moving assemblies for Space Kinetic’s core technology, supporting our goal of a flight demonstration within the next two years. This role will guide prototype builds and work across simulation, electrical, manufacturing, and systems engineering. The annual base salary for this role is below. Pay Grades are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: interviews and an assessment of several factors that are unique to each candidate, job-related skills, relevant education/experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and internal equity.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience focused on mechanisms.
- Strong knowledge of kinematics, dynamics, gears, cams, linkages, springs, bearings, and power transmission.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, NX, or similar 3D CAD software.
- Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, prototype development, and testing.
- Ability to work independently, solve problems, and collaborate across engineering teams.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
