About the role
The Turbine Diaphragm Welder will be responsible for the repair, fabrication, and refurbishment of steam turbine diaphragms and related components used in power generation facilities. This is a highly specialized position requiring precision welding expertise and a strong working knowledge of steam turbine internals
What you'll bring
- Demonstrated experience reading and working from engineering drawings, blueprints, and weld procedure specifications
- Knowledge of steam turbine diaphragm construction styles including spacer-band, fillet fabrication, and mechanically assembled designs
- Familiarity with weld inspection methods including visual inspection and liquid penetrant testing (PT)
- Ability to use precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform close-tolerance work consistently
- High school diploma or equivalent
- AWS (American Welding Society) certification or equivalent
- Experience with post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) procedures
- Prior work in a nuclear, fossil, or combined-cycle power plant maintenance environment
- Familiarity with GE, Siemens, Westinghouse, or other OEM turbine diaphragm designs
- Experience with MIG (GMAW), plasma cutting, and oxy-acetylene processes
