About the role
Supports all functions of dairy teaching, research and Extension; provides general assistance in dairy animal care such as milking, feeding, breeding, manure handling, health care, record keeping and general farm work; follows standard operating procedures (SOP), standard management plans (SMP) and compliance with IACUC animal care standards related to the dairy operation; assists with conducting digestion, metabolism, mastitis and other research trials on dairy cows; performs other general activities related to dairy cattle research; preps cattle for trials; collects samples of feed, milk, blood, rumen fluid, and other materials; maintains records; weighs cattle; maintains and cleans facilities and equipment; operates farm equipment and vehicles including tractors, mixer wagon, milking equipment, skid loader, truck and trailer; performs other duties related to dairy teaching and research including cleaning and bedding livestock housing, and assisting veterinarian with herd health treatments; may require variable working hours and weekend work. Position located at Wooster. The offer for this position will fall within the positions pay range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications. This is a Classified Civil Service position, which includes a 180-day probationary period.
