About the role
We are seeking a motivated and skilled mid-level engineer to join Barr’s air permitting and compliance team. The person in this role will undertake diverse, fast-paced, challenging work focused on providing environmental support to oil and gas clients, in addition to others in the mining, manufacturing, and power industries. A successful candidate for this position will have strong problem-solving and communication skills and the drive to combine their technical background and regulatory knowledge to meet client needs. They are also intrinsically motivated, with an emphasis on client service, and are interested in building their career in environmental consulting. In this position, you will develop solutions that allow clients to maintain optimal flexibility and profitability while complying with regulatory requirements related to air, as well as water and waste. The technical expertise you gathered from your degree and previous experience will be used to understand our clients' processes in relation to the applicable environmental permits, rules, and regulations. : a hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Colorado, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Utah offices. : up to 10% of your time; may vary based on project and client needs.

- Years of experience
- : 5 years post-college professional experience in industry, environmental agency, or environmental consulting
- Experience working with regulations and environmental permitting
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, regulators, and clients
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Strong computer skills, including the use of spreadsheets and a high level of proficiency working in data systems and analyzing large sets of data
- : familiarity with federal and state air-quality regulatory requirements and permitting processes for Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and/or Texas
- : willingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedules to meet project needs
