About the role
Currently, this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or STEM OPT extensions. This is structure and craft work involving the construction and repair of structures. Responsibilities include repairing and expanding existing buildings and performing construction work. Work includes reading and reviewing detailed construction blueprints of large renovation projects; estimating work materials required to complete the job; planning and laying out the work to be completed; and providing functional supervision to assigned staff. Employees in this class are distinguished by the requirement to perform work related to the construction and repair of buildings and bridges. Work is performed under limited supervision. What you'll bring
- Knowledge of building codes and how they apply to carpentry and masonry trades.
- Knowledge of the techniques and methods utilized in performing skilled finish carpentry work.
- Knowledge of the types and uses of various materials used in the carpentry trade.
- Knowledge of the types and uses of various materials used in bridge form construction.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Knowledge of retaining wall construction techniques.
- Knowledge of OSHA construction standards.
- Ability to work safely in risk conditions.
- Ability to work from design plans and specifications.
- Ability to estimate materials required for project.
- Ability to perform all types of carpentry and masonry work independently.
- Ability to perform skilled finish carpentry work including inside specialty work such as, window casings, molding, counters, shelves and signs.
