About the role
The Roger Bacon Academy is an education management organization that manages multiple award-winning public charter schools in southeastern North Carolina including Classical Charter Schools of Southport, located near Southport, NC. Classical Charter Schools of Southport serves students in grades K - 8. We are accepting applications for Exceptional Children Teachers. This position is potentially eligible for an additional Teacher Supplement in addition to the base pay. Our Teachers are paid based on the North Carolina State Salary Scale for Bachelor's Degrees. Our researched-based Direct Instruction curriculum begins with reading by phonics and writing with attention to penmanship, spelling, grammar, and style. Mathematics, science, music, and art also receive emphasis in the basics with examples and techniques from time-honored classical sources. The children gain a solid base of knowledge well-grounded in the intellectual, aesthetic, and moral traditions of western civilization. What you'll bring
- The Exceptional Education Teacher will have the following experience and attributes:
- A Bachelor’s degree in education is required with valid teaching certificate from North Carolina in the area for which candidate is applying.
- Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to operate a variety of equipment and classroom tools including computers, copiers, etc.
- Must be able to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and /or negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
- Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
- Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or composite characteristics (whether similar or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things
- Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to conveyor exchange information.
- Includes receiving instructions, assignments or directions from superiors.
- Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, handbooks, forms, lists, etc.
- Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, simple reports, forms, instructional materials, etc., using prescribed format.
- Must be adaptable to performing under stress and confronted with emergency situations.
