About the role
August Rose Health Center is a community-focused outpatient mental health clinic providing individual therapy, psychiatric rehabilitation, and medication management. Our mission is to promote wellness, empowerment, and access to high-quality care for individuals and families across Maryland. We are currently seeking a Medical Director (Psychiatrist) to provide clinical oversight and ensure compliance with federal Medicaid requirements. Job Title: Medical Director (Psychiatrist) – Outpatient Mental Health Clinic Company: August Rose Health Center Job Type: Part-time / Contract Location: Hybrid (Telehealth and In-Office – Maryland-based) Pay: Competitive hourly or per-client rate (commensurate with experience) Position Summary: The Medical Director will oversee psychiatric services, provide clinical leadership, and ensure that all services meet Maryland Medicaid and federal regulations under 42 CFR § 440.90. This role includes direct client care, telehealth evaluations, and supervision of medical necessity for ongoing services. Flexible scheduling and remote options are available. Key Responsibilities: • Provide medical direction and assume clinical responsibility for all outpatient mental health services. • Complete initial psychiatric evaluations (telehealth acceptable) and prescribe care as needed. • Periodically review treatment plans and assess ongoing medical necessity. • Collaborate with therapists, CRNPs, and support staff to ensure high-quality care. • Serve as the point of contact for audits, quality assurance, and compliance inquiries.Ensure alignment with COMAR, CARF, and federal Medicaid regulations. • Participate in occasional staff training or case consultations. Qualifications • MD or DO licensed to practice in the State of Maryland. • Board Certified in Psychiatry (ABPN) OR completed an ACGME-accredited psychiatry residency. • 2+ years of clinical experience in an outpatient or community mental health setting preferred. • Strong understanding of Medicaid compliance and EHR documentation. • Ability to work independently and collaborate virtually with a multidisciplinary team.
