About the role
As a Structural Engineer – Substation, you will play a critical role in the planning, design, and delivery of substation infrastructure across Olsson’s Transmission and Substation team. In this role, you will lead the structural design of substation foundations, steel structures, and equipment supports, contributing to projects that strengthen and modernize power delivery systems. You will collaborate closely with electrical engineers, designers, and project managers throughout all phases of project delivery. This position is ideal for a structural engineer who enjoys technically challenging work, mentoring others, and contributing meaningfully to essential infrastructure projects.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (structural emphasis).
- 6+ years of progressive structural engineering experience
- Experience designing concrete foundations and structural steel systems.
- Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ACI, AISC, IBC, ASCE).
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
- preferably including substation or industrial facilities.
