About the role
We are looking for a Senior Structural Designer to participate in the design process, assist in developing BIM models, design drawings, and construction documents for structures made of steel, concrete, and masonry. You will be able to participate and focus on new design challenges, expanding career skills while supporting the development of life changing infrastructure that improves communities all over the United States. This position is remote/hybrid work with a preferred for this position to be worked full-time in Oak Ridge, TN. For people within 50 miles of the Oak Ridge, TN office, a hybrid option requires a person to be in office for minimum of 50% of the week. For people outside of 50 miles, a remote option with quarterly travel to the Oak Ridge, TN office is available. For hybrid and remote work, you are required to provide and work in a secured location as approved by the company within the United States due to the projects that you will be participating in.
What you'll bring
- 12+ years of industrial, commercial, and/or nuclear projects experience
- Ability to follow and implement established quality procedures and ensure that all work accomplished is procedurally compliant
- Competence using Microsoft Office software
- Ability to learn new software as necessary for project success
- Comfort working in fast-paced environment where requirements may evolve throughout projects
- Experience using Revit and/or Tekla for BIM modeling and drawing production
- Working knowledge of industry design standards (AISC, ACI, IBC, etc.)
- Ability to resolve interdisciplinary model clashes at a basic level.
- Experience in detailing steel and concrete drawings.
- Ability to interpret engineering calculations
- Use of 3D model coordination (i.e. Navisworks)
- Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
