About the role
The CNC Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery and associated plant equipment to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency. The role requires a blend of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic expertise. The CNC Maintenance Technician's primary responsibility is to minimize machine downtime by performing preventative and corrective maintenance on all CNC equipment (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.) and supporting facility maintenance. This role requires the ability to diagnose complex issues using technical manuals and diagnostic tools and implement effective, lasting repairs.
What you'll bring
- 5+ years of experience in CNC machine maintenance within a manufacturing or machine shop environment is typically required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency with electrical test equipment (e.g., multimeters) and experience working with 480V three-phase power, VFDs, and PLCs.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with various machine tool controls (Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and blueprints.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in various physical conditions (crouching, climbing, etc.).
- Certifications: High school diploma or GED required
- technical training or certification in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or mechatronics is a significant plus.
