About the role

As an OTI Instructor, you'll deliver engaging classroom, virtual, and field-based instruction focused on residential energy efficiency, weatherization, and diagnostic HVAC technologies. This is a fully remote position that requires regular travel to support training delivery and program operations. The primary training location is the Oregon Training Institute (OTI) warehouse in Salem, Oregon, with additional travel throughout Oregon and occasional national travel for trainings, conferences, and industry events.

What you'll bring

  • Three (3) years’ of combined experience in building trades, weatherization, energy efficiency, and/or energy conservation.
  • Strong understanding of building science, thermodynamics, and energy conservation principals.
  • Experience providing instruction, coaching, demonstrations, or technical trainings for weatherization measures.
  • Experience facilitating classroom, virtual, and/or field-based training.
  • Demonstrated ability to properly use and calibrate diagnostic equipment such as combustion analyzers, blower door, duct blasters, infrared cameras, or computerized energy modeling software.
  • Working knowledge of Oregon building codes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Oregon and on occasion, nationally.
  • Valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and an insurable driving record.
  • Experience with low-income weatherization programs.
  • Existing relationships with community organizations, state agencies, or industry partners.
