About the role

The Lead Editor and Translator reports directly to the Director of Editing and Translation and is responsible for coordinating and assigning tasks to team members. This role requires a strong understanding of project lifecycles and work schedules within the Vice Presidency of Academic Development at Northbridge University. Familiarity with NU’s curricular and instructional design models is essential. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in applying grammar and spelling rules in both English and Spanish, as well as proficiency in APA style and citation standards for academic content development. This position demands a high level of commitment, integrity, and leadership to uphold the quality standards of the Department of Editing and Translation and the institution. Experience in team leadership, mentoring, training, or workflow coordination is highly desirable.

What you'll bring

  • Candidates must demonstrate expertise in applying grammar and spelling rules in both English and Spanish, as well as proficiency in APA style and citation standards for academic content development.
  • Master’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three to four years of professional experience in English–Spanish editing and translation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Strong conceptual thinking and analytical skills.
  • Experience using computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, such as Phrase.
  • Working knowledge of artificial intelligence tools that support translation and editing workflows.
  • Readiness to learn, evaluate, and apply new technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in team leadership, mentoring, training, or workflow coordination.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in team-oriented environments.
  • Adaptability to shifting priorities and deadlines, with effective problem-solving skills.
