About the role
The Department of Music at Colby College invites applications for a temporary part-time Applied Music Instructor in Trumpet beginning in the fall semester of 2026. This is a one semester appointment with the possibility of renewal for a maximum of one additional semester. The Applied Music Instructor provides individualized trumpet instruction to students enrolled in the music program and contributes to the department’s performance ensembles. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in both performance and instruction and will support the department’s efforts to foster a vibrant musical community on campus. In addition to teaching applied trumpet lessons, the instructor will perform as Principal Trumpet with Colby Symphony Orchestra and Colby Wind Ensemble, as determined by ensemble repertoire each semester. In this role, the employee will interact with members of the public and others in a variety of situations and conversations. Presenting oneself in a professional, respectful, and thoughtful manner at all times is an important part of the role.

- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Experience teaching trumpet lessons to students at the collegiate or pre-professional level preferred
