About the role

The City of Americus is seeking three (3) qualified candidates to fill the position of Firefighter. The beginning salary is $34,308.00 annually ($12.45/ hour) .

What you'll bring

• include completion of High School diploma or GED
• supplemented by vocational/technical training in fire fighting and First Responder emergency medical treatment programs
• or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the job.
• Must possess and maintain valid Georgia Fire Fighter 1 certification within six months of employment.
• Must possess Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate Certification or above, within three years of employment.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
• City of Americus Fire Department employees are required to live within a reasonable response time to the Public Safety Building not to exceed 60 minutes.
• All Applicants for the entry level position of Fire Fighter must show proof of successfully passing the Georgia Work Ready Fire Fighter Entry Level Profile test, scoring Silver or above at time of applying.
• Tests are administered at South Georgia Technical College, located at 900 South Georgia Tech Parkway Americus, Georgia 31709.
• previous experience is preferred but not required
