About the role
TrendAI is hiring a Director, Threat News Monitoring and AI Workflow Management to join the Threat Research Insights and Impact (TRII) team. TRII translates TrendAI’s threat research into business impact through publication, amplification, listening, and measurement. This is a management role that leads the operational engine for TRII’s listening, response, and analytics functions. It includes being responsible for the team’s continuous awareness function: identifying which external and internal signals warrant a response, directing how those signals become published content, and quantifying the impact of TRII’s output. The role also owns the data and measurement program for threat research at TrendAI. Based in Austin (preferred), it anchors North America coverage and partners closely with colleagues in Asia.
What you'll bring
- 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, threat intelligence, security communications, or a related discipline, including 3+ years managing people (not just influencing)
- Demonstrated experience designing or scaling AI-assisted operational workflows — triage, drafting, measurement — in a fast-moving content, intelligence, or newsroom-style environment.
- Working knowledge of the threat intelligence and threat research landscape: standard frameworks, disclosure norms, the distinctions between TTPs, incidents, breaches, campaigns, vulnerabilities, exploits, etc.
- Demonstrated proficiency with measurement, analytics, and social listening platforms, and the ability to translate quantitative findings into clear business narratives.
- Strong editorial judgment and news sense — able to separate signal from noise across a high-volume stream of inputs and make fast go/no-go calls under time pressure.
- Experience working effectively across time zones, particularly with teams based in Asia, and willingness to flex schedule during significant incidents.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience partnering with or embedded alongside an editorial/writing team to hit rapid publication SLAs.
- Excellent written communication for both leadership audiences and fast-turn external content.
- Background in newsroom, breaking-news, or rapid response operations.
- Hands-on experience with AI agent or automation tooling for content or intelligence workflows.
- Location in Austin, Texas, for hybrid work 2 days a week
