About the role
The Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) supports all aspects of Scaled Composites’ industrial, personnel, and facility security programs in a dynamic, hands-on aerospace environment. This role works directly with the Facility Security Officer (FSO) to ensure full compliance with the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and contract specific security requirements. The AFSO plays a key role in safeguarding classified information, managing personnel security actions, supporting facility accreditation, and maintaining secure operations of the facility. This position is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented security professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment wearing multiple hats and collaborates well with key stakeholders. What you'll bring
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance
- Experience working with or supporting DoD security programs under the National Industrial Security Program (NISP).
- Working knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM Rule), classified information handling, and secure facility operations.
- Experience using DISS, NISS, NBIS, or similar government security systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees, leadership, and government customers.
- Familiarity with classified material control, access management, and security training.
- Ability to work independently on routine security tasks with moderate supervision.
- Experience supporting security audits, inspections, or self‑assessments.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the company.
- 5 years experience in industrial security, personnel security, military security forces, law enforcement, or related security discipline / Equivalent combination of education and experience.
