About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an IT Solution Architect, Materials Management & Sourcing, to join our Information Technology team based out of our corporate office in Oak Brook, IL. The IT Solution Architect, Materials Management & Sourcing, is a senior technical and functional architecture role, responsible for defining, governing, and continuously evolving the ERP-based procurement and e-Procurement platform landscape across the full Source-to-Pay (S2P) process domain. The role carries equal weight across two dimensions: deep ERP Purchasing and Inventory Management ownership spanning purchasing operations, MRP-driven procurement, invoice verification, and master data and S2P platform architecture through SAP Ariba as the company’s strategic e-Procurement platform and its integration into SAP ECC and S/4HANA. THS operates SAP Ariba as its strategic e-Procurement platform, and the successful candidate will be expected to bring hands-on Ariba configuration experience — including buying channel enablement, catalog and Guided Buying setup, and Ariba-to-ERP integration — as a core competency from day one. The company’s near-term roadmap includes significant investment in SAP Ariba platform modernization, making this a central and growing dimension of the role. This role is the primary decision-maker for solution design within this domain, sets the architectural standards that delivery teams work within, and is accountable for ensuring the long-term integrity, scalability, and fitness of the S2P technology landscape. Success requires broad architectural thinking, deep SAP MM functional expertise, hands-on SAP Ariba configuration depth, and strong integration command, and the ability to engage credibly with Procurement, Finance, and Plant Operations leadership while influencing technology direction in partnership with the PMO and Digital Engineering and Automation team. What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Supply Chain, or related field
- equivalent practical experience considered.
- 10+ years of hands-on SAP MM functional configuration and support experience in Purchasing and Inventory Management, including purchase orders, goods receipts, invoice verification, info records, outline agreements, procurement master data (Vendor, Material, Source Lists, Contracts), MRP concepts, and end-to-end procure-to-pay processes.
- 5+ years of hands-on SAP Ariba configuration experience, with demonstrated expertise in Guided Buying, catalog management, Buying & Invoicing, Sourcing, and Contracts.
- Experience configuring Ariba-to-SAP integration via Cloud Integration Gateway (CIG) or SAP Integration Suite is required.
- Candidates whose Ariba experience is limited to support, administration, or end-user enablement without hands-on functional configuration will not meet this requirement.
- Demonstrated experience leading full-cycle ERP MM and/or e-Procurement implementations or major enhancements, including requirements gathering, design, build, testing, go-live activities, and ERP modernization initiatives such as S/4HANA Sourcing & Procurement.
- Strong knowledge of SAP integration architectures, including SAP Cloud Integration Gateway (CIG), SAP Integration Suite, and Ariba-to-SAP MM integration patterns, IDocs or equivalent message types, API-based data exchange, EDI transaction flows, supply chain planning platform integrations including familiarity with Blue Yonder or similar demand-driven planning tools and how planning outputs translate into SAP MM purchasing execution, and supplier-facing collaboration processes.
- Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks and Agile, hybrid, or other project delivery methodologies.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex functional and technical information to Procurement, Supply Chain, IT, and executive leadership teams.
- Experience with sourcing, procurement, and supply chain processes, including RFP/RFQ design, bid management, contract management, supplier lifecycle management, and supplier collaboration solutions.
- Business or functional experience in Procurement, Sourcing, or Supply Chain operations, with a demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into practical technology solutions.
