About the role

As a Surgical Technologist, you will function as a member of the surgery team in delivering patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during and after surgery. You will handle the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. As a Surgical Technologist at Monument Health, you understand the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon. You have the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly maintain the sterile field.

What you'll bring

• Rapid City Hospital, Spearfish Hospital, and Monument Health Orthopedic Specialty Hospital:
• Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer
• Education - Associate degree of Applied Science in Surgical Technology
• Certification - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Nation Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
• Work Experience - 2+ years cardiovascular experience
• Scheduling Requirements: Requires the ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department.
• Physical Requirements: Heavy work - exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or up to 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or up to 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and or up to 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects.
• Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.
• Work Experience - 1+ years of Surgical Technologist Experience
• 1+ years of Healthcare Experience
