About the role
The Mechanical Engineer – Advanced Program Pursuits will support Crystal Group’s Advanced Program Pursuits team in developing innovative mechanical solutions for new and emerging customer opportunities. This position is responsible for the design, development, analysis, and verification of mechanical components and assemblies, including sheet-metal and machined-metal parts, while applying mechanical engineering principles to integrate mechanical and electrical components into complete systems. Working within the Advanced Program Pursuits team, this role will support early-stage concepts, customer-driven requirements, rapid design efforts, prototypes, and technical evaluations. The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate closely with Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to assess technical feasibility and develop solutions that meet unique and evolving customer requirements.
What you'll bring
- Basic knowledge of 3D modeling techniques
- Ability to translate high-level or evolving customer requirements into practical mechanical concepts and designs
- Familiar with Finite Element Analysis and computational fluid dynamics
- Familiar with Computer Numerical Control design requirements
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and systems integration
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Basic knowledge of mechanical component industry standards
- Basic understanding of commonly practiced concepts related to Mechanical Engineering theory
- Works well both independently and in a team environment and is willing to change priorities as needed
- Multitasking skills including the ability to work across multiple software platforms
- Use hand tools (caliper, micrometer, feeler gauge, fluid pressure meter, infrared thermal cameras, etc.)
- Inspect and troubleshoot computer related hardware components at an assembly level
