The Senior Hardware Engineer will lead the design, development, and optimization of carrier-grade hardware platforms that support voice, data, and network access services, including legacy Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) and modern telecommunications infrastructure. This role drives innovation and ensures the reliability, efficiency, and manufacturability of hardware systems from concept through production. The Senior Hardware Engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and manufacturing specialists, to align hardware solutions with overall product goals. This role requires a strategic thinker who can troubleshoot complex hardware issues and implement robust solutions that meet stringent quality and safety standards. The engineers’ contributions will directly impact product performance and market success while reinforcing Tellabs’ position as an industry leader.
What you'll bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in hardware design and development within durable goods or a related manufacturing sector
- Proficiency with schematic capture and hardware design tools, including Mentor Graphics Expedition xDX Designer or similar CAD software
- Experience with circuit simulation programs and hardware testing methodologies
- Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design, signal processing, and embedded systems
- Experience with Verilog, ModelSim SE, and FPGA development environments, including Altera Quartus II, Quartus Prime, SignalTap II, Xilinx ISE, Vivado, Integrated Logic Analyzer/ChipScope, and Lattice Diamond
- Ability to perform programmable logic modeling, simulation, implementation, timing analysis, debugging, and verification
- Familiarity with IBM Rational ClearCase for Verilog source control, configuration management, and design traceability
- Knowledge of compliance standards relevant to durable goods and carrier-grade telecommunications hardware
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose hardware and FPGA issues through iterative testing
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with cross-disciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineers
