About the role
We are seeking a Field Service IT Engineer to support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of networking and communications equipment at government customer sites. This role requires a hands-on technical professional who is comfortable traveling to customer locations, working in highly sensitive operational environments, and performing both IT/networking tasks and light general contracting work required to complete field installations.
What you'll bring
- Experience as a Field Service Engineer, Network Technician, Low Voltage Technician, Systems Installer, IT Infrastructure Technician, or similar hands-on technical role.
- Strong knowledge of Ethernet networking, including copper cabling, RJ45 termination, patch panels, switches, routers, IP addressing, VLANs, and basic network troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of fiber optic communications, including single-mode and multi-mode fiber, LC/SC connectors, SFP/SFP+ modules, fiber patching, light levels, and fiber testing concepts.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, cable testers, fiber testers, tone generators, multimeters, labelers, and other field installation equipment.
- US Citizen with TS SCI eligibility and ability to pass CI polygraph
- GED and 10+ years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Cyber Operations, Computer Networks, Cybersecurity, Information Security, and Information Assurance from an accredited university/college AND 4+ years of experience
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Cyber Operations, Computer Networks, Cybersecurity, Information Security, and Information Assurance from an accredited university/college AND 2+ years of experience
- Network design
- General tradesman skills (drywall, electrical, HVAC, plumbing)
- Understanding of construction sites and construction projects
