About the role

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Principal Engineer for the Military Engines Airworthiness Office to serve as the primary advocate for airworthiness execution on multiple programs. This role represents an exciting new approach to airworthiness at P&W, with a dedicated team devoted specifically to the airworthiness discipline, assisting programs with execution of US Government customer deliverables regarding planning and collection of artifacts that demonstrate compliance to agreed Airworthiness criteria. Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Principal Engineer for the Military Engines Airworthiness Office to serve as the primary advocate for airworthiness execution on multiple programs.  This role represents an exciting new approach to airworthiness at P&W, with a dedicated team devoted specifically to the airworthiness discipline, assisting programs with execution of US Government customer deliverables regarding planning and collection of artifacts that demonstrate compliance to agreed Airworthiness criteria. A successful applicant should be comfortable advocating for Airworthiness compliance in the face potential competing program priorities. This role will entail regular coordination with our US Government customers.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) degree
  • 8+ years of experience in military Airworthiness and/or civil certification and/or engineering & requirements management
  • OR an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience in military Airworthiness and/or civil certification and/or engineering.
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering.
  • Experience working with one or more gas turbine engine subsystems and familiarity with their architecture, performance, validation, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with MIL-HDBK-516 and related US government/industry publications, and execution of core airworthiness deliverables.
  • Experience interfacing with US Government customers regarding challenging program deliverables and risk negotiation.
