About the role
The Sales Application Engineer supports business growth and customer satisfaction by delivering technical sales support, application expertise, and engineered HVAC solutions. This role partners closely with CSO Account Managers and customers to identify project needs, develop tailored equipment and system solutions, prepare accurate proposals and pricing, and help drive successful sales outcomes. This position plays a key role in converting leads into opportunities, supporting the sales process from concept through handoff to operations, and building long-term customer relationships through technical consultation, responsiveness, and solution-focused collaboration.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- At least three years of experience in estimating, engineering, sales, or construction management.
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, temperature controls, and system applications.
- Experience working with databases and organizing, analyzing, and reporting technical or sales-related data.
- Ability to interpret specifications, diagrams, schedules, and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of refrigerant piping, electrical systems, and hydronic piping schematics.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Trane selection and pricing tools, and other related software applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Solid analytical and mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret graphs.
- Strong problem-solving ability and sound judgment in situations with changing priorities or limited standardization.
- Ability to work collaboratively across sales, engineering, estimating, fulfillment, and operations teams.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel occasionally, including overnight stays, and work outside normal business hours when needed.
