About the role

Ball State University is inviting applications for the position of Administration Building Security Officer to champion the safety, security, and operational integrity of our campus community. This non-sworn, non-law enforcement position is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and highly service-oriented environment within the facility. The ideal candidate will excel at building positive relationships across campus, delivering top-tier customer service, and supporting a safe, high-integrity environment for our students, faculty, and staff. Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the United States without employer sponsorship. The Administration Building Security Officer is responsible for supporting a safe, secure, and service-oriented environment within the facility. This position performs routine security functions including monitoring building access, conducting patrols of the building, observing and reporting safety concerns, assisting visitors, and responding to non-emergency incidents. This is a non-sworn, non-law enforcement position and does not include arrest authority. The Security Officer is expected to interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, and visitors while supporting the university’s commitment to safety, customer service, and operational excellence. What you'll bring

  • At least 18 months of education beyond high school or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in security, safety, customer service, facilities operations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism in a variety of situations.
  • Basic computer and technology skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass a job-related agility test.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
