About the role

Timmons Group is seeking an experienced  Environmental Scientist  to join our Environmental Group in our  Raleigh, NC  office. The Environmental Scientist will support and lead environmental field investigations, technical assessments, reporting efforts, and permitting for a variety of environmental projects. This role is responsible for producing technically sound work products, coordinating field activities, making informed field decisions related to wetland assessments, delineations, and other environmental evaluations, and communicating findings and recommendations to project managers, team members, and clients. This role is responsible for producing technically sound work products, coordinating field activities, making informed field decisions related to wetland assessments, delineations, and other environmental evaluations, and communicating findings and recommendations to project managers, team members, and clients. What you'll bring

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, or related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the natural resources field, with an emphasis on wetland and stream delineations.
• Ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience
• Strong office and field skills, including the ability and willingness to perform field tasks in varying weather conditions, outdoor environments, and challenging terrain
• At least 1-year of experience leading wetland delineations and riparian buffer determinations is required
• Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to read and interpret technical literature, maps, and engineering plans
• Highly motivated, self-directed, flexible, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment while collaborating with employees, clients, and project teams to meet deadlines and support Timmons Group’s vision, mission, and shared values
• Candidates must share a commitment to our company’s Vision, Mission and Shared Values.
• Experience with threatened and endangered species habitat reviews/surveys, environmental permitting, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, tree inventories, and/or erosion and sediment control compliance inspections is a plus.
