About the role
As a Field Welder on the Field Operations team, you will perform the hands-on welding that turns engineering drawings into working nuclear hardware — in our Austin factory and at project sites in the field. You will weld stainless steel pressure vessels, piping, structures, and prototype hardware to approved procedures, working day-to-day alongside field engineers, machinists, and test technicians. This role is a great fit for a skilled welder who wants to work on complex, high-reliability hardware, hold tight quality standards, and support installation and commissioning wherever Aalo builds. You will weld to procedure, help troubleshoot fit-up and joint issues at the bench, and contribute wherever needed to keep the build moving.
What you'll bring
- Completion of a welding program, trade certification, or equivalent hands-on welding experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on welding experience, including GTAW on stainless steel.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, weld symbols, and joint configurations.
- Experience welding to written procedures (WPS) and holding tight quality standards.
- Basic familiarity with powered and manual tools.
- Strong ownership mindset, attention to detail, and clear communication
- comfortable working with ambiguity in a fast-iterating environment.
- Air-travel-compliant form of ID and a valid Driver's License.
- Based in the United States
- Willing to work on-site in Austin, TX
- Able to travel (at Aalo's expense) to out-of-state locations in the continental U.S., including on short notice and for extended assignments.
- Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Persons in compliance with 10 CFR Part 810 and may not hold non-compliant foreign citizenships.
