About the role
The Safety Specialist (SS) position provides general to complex level support in the design, planning and execution of safety, security, and emergency response systems for IES. Incumbent is expected to have proficient knowledge of federal and state safety and health compliance regulations and is responsible for assembling written updates to applicable guidelines, policies, programs and initiatives that support the safety and security of IES personnel, assets and operations. Desired competencies include: accuracy, attention to detail, proficiency in managing relationships and information as it relates to safety, security and emergency management activities. The ideal candidate must be able to establish priorities under tight deadlines and have a proven track record as a motivated, self-starter who can work on multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in public speaking and classroom training is required. Prior relevant experience in the energy and or retail or similar industries is strongly preferred.
What you'll bring
- Three to Five or more years of relevant experience.
- High school diploma.
- Proven experience understanding and applying safety policies and processes
- Proven experience in multi-tasking of work projects.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and Safe Work Practices.
- Experience in developing, delivering, and supporting training programs.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in relevant field
- Ability to uphold to strict ethical standards: integrity, objectivity, and confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills, including editing and proofreading.
- Must be proficient in power point.
- Ability to maintain automated and manual record keeping systems.
- Strong sense of team spirit and ability to transfer it to others.
